Today’s blogger is Writing Nag. If you guessed that she is a writer, then you would be correct. Let’s see what else she has to say. Writing Nag, please tell the readers about yourself.
Writing Nag
I’m a freelance writer, poet and college student who is using her blog to explore creative writing and other creative pursuits. I currently live in Colorado. I’ve owned a Mediterranean restaurant for the last 10 years. I’m also a chef, I have lots of creative interests that I dabble in but my first love is writing. I write a lot about food and nature two of my favorite topics.
BenSpark
That is really diverse and so cool. I am a fan of Mediterranean food. I love olives and feta and the richness of the food. I want to know more how about you tell us about your blog.
Writing Nag
My blog http://writingnag.blogspot.com is an exploration of my creative side so I think it’s constantly evolving. One day I might just post photographs of my garden because I think it looks particularly beautiful on another day I posted a nature walk in the Colorado mountains where I viewed and photographed wildflowers. Some weeks I’m all about poetry, other times writing prompts, altered art, vintage postcards or anything that I think could inspire a writer or a poet. I always start each post with a quote that sums up what I’m feeling that day and I always end each post with my gentle nag “Now get back to work!” because I know how distracting the Internet can be when you are writing.
BenSpark
The internet can certainly be distracting. There is just so much good content as well as time wasters out there. Some think that blogging is a time waster, I do not, I love it. I wish I had started so much sooner. Why did you start blogging?
Writing Nag
I started blogging after a writing conference when a well-known writer convinced me that writing daily was the key to writing success. I turned my nagging emails to my writing buddies into a creative writing blog. My theory is that if I nag other writers to write daily and explore their creativity I will do the same. It seems to be working.
BenSpark
That is a great concept. I hope that my daily photos encourage others to photograph as well. I know that I’d maybe motivated one or two others but maybe more will be motivated as well. That is something I like about being an IZEA Insider I can connect with and motivate other bloggers. What is your favorite feature of SocialSpark?
Writing Nag
My favorite feature is finding out about new products, websites, and what people are talking about before anyone else.
BenSpark
I too have learned about some really fun stuff way early because of SocialSpark. What should be improved on SocialSpark?
Writing Nag
Have more posts available for beginning bloggers.
BenSpark
You mentioned new products, and websites before can you tell us what advertisers would you want to see on SocialSpark?
Writing Nag
I would love to see more travel and food advertisers. I think bloggers can really sell what they love and people love to talk about places they’ve been and what they’ve eaten. I think food companies are missing out on a great advertising opportunity.
BenSpark
Good point. I’d like to try more food samples, maybe a gift card to a restaurant to get my impression of a new item or something like that.I’d love to see Red Robin as an advertiser as one of my goals or dreams rather is to be a paid blogger for Red Robin. Everyone has a different goal in blogging. What is the Ultimate Goal for a blogger, in your opinion?
Writing Nag
Reading recently that bloggers have a higher failure rate than restaurants I think that the ultimate goal for a blogger is celebrating ten years of blogging.
BenSpark
Ten years, well I’ve reached over that halfway point as a blogger. But I’d love to do 10 solid years of Photo-A-Day. That would be fantastic. I’ve got to ask, what is the first thing you do when you fire up your browser?
Writing Nag
Depending on the day: checking my email and writing my blog post. But usually I look for a motivational quote to start my post. Some mornings I have to wander around the internet and look for inspiration before I start writing.
BenSpark
Might I suggest a certain Flickrsteam for motivation. Just kidding, no seriously. You’ve written so much, what is your best blog post ever?
Writing Nag
That’s a tough question I don’t think my best blog post ever has been written yet one of my most popular ones is on using strong verbs in your writing.
BenSpark
I read that post, very motivating for a writer. Your writing as you stated is diverse I bet that the way people find your blog is as well. What are some odd keywords people use to find your blog?
Writing Nag
neurotic’s notebook, pizza waffles, strong verbs, supermarket writing, glint of light on broken glass, thanksgiving recipes, what is poetry
BenSpark
Pizza Waffles? That sounds really interesting. Just what would your favorite pizza topping be?
Writing Nag
Pepperoni, fresh mushrooms and onions
BenSpark
Pirates or Ninjas?
Writing Nag
Definitely pirates.
BenSpark
I wanted to know more about the Pizza Waffles so I checked out your blog. I think that you could vastly improve upon that photo of the 1970s. I bet if you added bacon to a Pizza Waffle it would be better. What one thing would be improved by adding Bacon to it?
Writing Nag
Bacon. If they could figure out a way to add more bacon to bacon it would be an improvement. I’m thinking bacon infused bacon. Several companies have already improved chocolate by adding bacon to it.
BenSpark
Bacon infused bacon. Too much of a good thing? Maybe. Nah. So, you are a writer but are you a reader? What are your favorite blogs?
Writing Nag
There’s so many but these are the ones I check almost daily.

Another good interview, I am learning more about other SocialSpark bloggers than by dropping via EC with this site.
You're telling me, I am so glad that I've been doing this, I've learned so much about the great bloggers who I've “known” for so long. And dropping EC has done nothing for me to really learn much about anyone. Stopping for a few moments and learning a bit about each blogger has really been fun.
I love these interviews, it's great to get a bit more insight in to those that are blogging and using SocialSpark, keep 'em coming
There have been some excellent interviews so far. I just love everything that people have been sending me! It is so great to share an insight into bloggers from so many diverse areas.
Interesting interview. I like the Writing Nag's idea of encouraging others to write while she's encouraging herself to do that.
I love that she ends all her posts with Now Get Back to Work!. Thanks for the comment Bonnie. Are you on SocialSpark? If so please check out the I'm Not A Famous Blogger Crew.
